What is the MNA Advocacy Action Network?

The Advocacy Action Network is the primary tool that Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) utilizes to communicate with our membership and the broader nonprofit sector regarding state and federal policy issues impacting Michigan nonprofits. Network subscribers receive periodic email updates, announcements and action alerts covering the following areas:

  • Legislative and administrative policy issues impacting how nonprofits operate and are governed;
  • Trainings on how to be an effective advocate and the do's and don'ts for lobbying by 501(c)(3) organizations; and
  • Research and information on advocacy and the nonprofit sector.

About MNA Public Policy

Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) increases the capacity of Michigan’s nonprofits to serve, strengthen and transform communities. MNA serves as a statewide network for the sector, a resource center on effective management practices, and as an advocate for the nonprofit community.

Michigan Nonprofit Association's public policy efforts are affiliated with the Council of Michigan Foundations and are guided by the MNA Public Policy Committee and the MNA Board of Trustees. Specifically, MNA:

  1. Educates policymakers and the media on issues impacting Michigan nonprofits;
  2. Advocates on behalf of the Michigan nonprofit sector on public policy issues that impact all nonprofits;
  3. Engages nonprofits in advocacy by providing organizations with the tools and resources necessary to be effective advocates and lobbyists; and
  4. Promotes research on the sector by locating and summarizing research relevant to nonprofits, and encouraging research.
