Urge your State Legislators to raise the audit threshold for charities receiving contributions.

The charitable audit threshold bill HB 632 (3824) with PANO’s proposed language would raise the audit triggering threshold from the current $125,000 in annual contributions to $300,000; permit the use of a review or compilation for charities raising less than $300,000 annually, and restrict the use of compilation to charities raising less than $100,000.  This bill will enable smaller charities to direct more charitable dollars to programs and services, rather than to costly audits, while preserving a level of protection for the donor public.

PANO has worked with the House of Representatives and a number of organizations on this bill including Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

Keeping administrative costs low is a concern for all Pennsylvania charities.  This bill will free-up much needed funds; that can be better used to help the charity serve the community.  While it is important that the charitable community voice its support for this bill, your support is essential.  You are your legislator’s constituent.  Please send the letter below to your state legislators urging them to help move this bill forward.

URGE YOUR STATE SENATOR TO AMEND THE CHARITABLE AUDIT THRESHOLD BILL TO INCLUDE PANO’S PROPOSED LANGUAGE, AND TO PLACE THE AMENDED BILL ON THE SENATE CALENDAR FOR A FINAL VOTE.
